Boulder Beer Chase
June 15th, 2019
The Colorado Mountain region has amazing attributes and recreational opportunities to explore. Boulder is known as the happiest city but we beg to differ. We think it is the ‘hoppiest’ city with over 15+ craft breweries. Enjoying the mountain fresh air while running with friends and sipping local craft beer from Fort Collins to Boulder creates one amazing experience: The Boulder Beer Chase.
Countdown to Race Day
Preview the Race
The Boulder Beer Chase is a one-day six-person running & walking relay of approximately 55 miles, consisting of 12 legs of varying distance (3-6 miles per leg). The course starts in Fort Collins at Odell Brewing and travels through Loveland, Berthoud, Longmont, and Niwot, to finish at Boulder Beer Company while experiencing the amazing craft breweries of the Front Range. On a 6-person team, each person runs 2 legs, but we welcome teams of all sizes between 1 and 6 runners/walkers. Each time you exchange at a brewery, you have the option to enjoy a 3-4oz sample of craft beer from the sponsoring brewery. Consumption is not required. Every team is required to have a designated driver and DD’s are not allowed to consume alcohol during the event.
The Boulder Beer Chase brings out all types of people. Women and men, young and old. Beer drinkers that occasionally run, beer drinkers that run a lot, and runners that drink a lot of beer! There are tons of social teams that are running purely for the camaraderie and party, as well as a few teams that are in it to win it. One thing is for sure, everyone enjoys nice cold beer!
We ask, why not! Whenever you can enjoy some of the best activities a region has to offer, who wouldn’t want to? Take advantage of this opportunity to spend the day outdoors enjoying the views, amazing local craft brew, and getting in some exercise, all while being with friends and other like-minded people.
Your Boulder Beer Chase Assistant Race Director is Colorado native Erik Zeitlow. He is an entrepreneur, assistant high school cross country coach at Green Mountain High School and lifetime runner having run 70+ long distance races from the marathon, 50k, Comrades and 100k distances. He’s had the opportunity to run marathons on all 7 continents and has completed 5 of the 6 world marathon majors (London is really hard to get into). He even spent 19 straight days running 620 miles across his home state of Colorado. While individual events are fun, he really loves relays and has run over 30+ overnight relays. Erik met the Cascade Relays team at the 2017 Running USA Industry Conference where they invited him to have a beer (surprise surprise) and by the end of the night they felt like old friends. He looks forward to bringing the exceptional Cascade Relays experience to the great state of Colorado.
