Boulder Beer Chase

The Boulder Beer Chase is a six-person running & walking relay spanning approximately 55 miles over one amazing day. The relay starts at Avery Brewing Company in Boulder, and travels through Niwot, Longmont, Berthoud, and Loveland, to finish on the beautiful grounds of Odell Brewing in Fort Collins.  Along the entire course, local breweries host exchange points where participants sample their amazing craft. The relay consists of 12 legs of varying distance (4-8 miles per leg). We welcome teams of all sizes, between 1 and 6 runners/walkers. On a 6-person team, each person runs 2 legs; on a 3-person team, each person runs 4 legs and so on.

The Colorado Mountain region has amazing attributes and recreational opportunities to explore. Boulder is known as the happiest city but we beg to differ.  We think it is the ‘hoppiest’ city with over 15+ craft breweries. Enjoying the mountain fresh air while running with friends and sipping local craft beer from Boulder to Fort Collins creates one amazing experience: The Boulder Beer Chase.

We welcome teams of all sizes between 1 and 6 runners/walkers. On a 6-person team, each person runs 2 legs; on a 3-person team, each person runs 4 legs and so on.

Each time you exchange at a brewery, you have the option to enjoy a 3-4 oz sample of craft beer from the sponsoring brewery. Consumption is not required. Every team is required to have a designated driver and DD’s are not allowed to consume alcohol during the event.

  • Registration for Boulder Beer Chase 2020 Opens!

April 1st2020

  • Teams that selected to “Hire-A-Volunteer” (HAV) – $125 volunteer donation payment is due.  Donation amount increases to $150 per volunteer if your check is not postmarked by April 1st.
  • All team members must be registered with T-Shirt sizes by April 1st in order to guarantee their T-Shirt size. Participants registered after April 1st will receive the closest size available if that size becomes unavailable.

  • Add a runner or walker to your roster via the registration database

May 1st, 2020

  • Last day we will accept team name changes. Simply email [email protected] with your changes.

May 2nd, 2020

  • Hire-A-Volunteer (HAV) donation increases to $200.

May 8th, 2020

  • Deadline to provide final team information including team name, division assignments, and team projected total course time. This info is used to set accurate start times.  To receive a start time, teams must provide a projected total course time and have at least 75% of their teammates registered in the database.

May 29th, 2020

  • Team Start Times and Volunteer Assignments posted.  Only critical start time change requests will be considered. Absolutely no changes will be made to volunteer assignments after May 22nd. If you wish to change your volunteer status to “Hire a Volunteer” the fee increases to $300/volunteer after assignments have been released. Please understand that by late May, all race bibs have been printed, timing software has been loaded, charity volunteers have been hired, and making individual changes becomes extremely difficult.
  • Donation to “Hire a Volunteer” increases to $300/volunteer.

June 12th, 2020

  • All final changes to team roster must be submitted
    (Database will remain open until June 19 for last minute roster changes, but t-shirts will be packaged for each team according to the roster as of May 29th)

June 19th, 2020

  • Packet pick-up encouraged the afternoon/early evening before at 10 Barrel in Denver. Merchandise available for purchase.

Choose your volunteer option:

  1. Supply Your Own Volunteer – provide 1 volunteer who is available any time Saturday to work a 4-6 hour shift out on the course.  Volunteers can be assigned to a morning, afternoon or early evening shift.  We do not take volunteer assignment requests.
  2. Hire-a-Volunteer (HAV) – donate $125 so that we can partner with local charities and community groups who will provide a volunteer on the course for your team. 100% of your funds are donated to these worthy organizations.

Hire-A-Volunteer Donation Fees:

  1. At the time of registration or by April 1st: $125
  2. Postmarked between April 2nd and May 1st: $150
  3. Postmarked between May 2nd and May 15th: $200
  4. Final Hire A Volunteer Price after volunteer shifts have been assigned: $300

The Boulder Beer Chase is an untimed, non-competitive event.  Run fast to enjoy more beer at the finish line or run slower to enjoy the beer along the way.  Either way, it’s a win-win!
