FAQS – CLR – General Registration

The established registration lottery period for CLR 36 (Diamond Lake to Bend) will take place November 15 - November 30, 2020.   Registration for CLR 24 and the WALK RELAY (Silver Lake to Bend) will open on November 15, 2020 and remain open until full.

  1. Register your team within the established registration period.
  2. CLR-36 accepted Teams will be announced on December 15th.  CLR-24 and Walk Relay registration remains open until full.
  3. Print the Registration Confirmation Email that is sent upon receiving your team acceptance and fill out all of the required information.
  4. Mail the filled out Confirmation Email along with a $800 deposit check to Cascade Relays, PO Box 1088 Bend OR 97709 by January 15, 2021 (postmarked).
  5. Check memo must include CLR, your team name, and your team captain name in the memo line (if different than the name on the check).
  6. Your team's remaining registration balance and Hire-A-Volunteer (HAV) fee is due by March 1, 2021 (postmarked).

Yes, you can send in your HAV check in with your deposit or anytime before March 1st. It must be a separate check from your registration fee. Donation checks must be made payable to Cascade Relays Foundation and the donation amount is $150 per volunteer at the time of registration.  


Yes, once accepted you can mail in your full registration payment.   We offer the option of the deposit in the lottery system so team captains can spread out the financial commitment of registering a team. But if you like to be on top of any deadlines, feel free to send in your full registration fee now.

We recommend keeping the same team name through the lottery process. This gives us a clear connection to your team’s past years’ participation to ensure you get your appropriate number of entries. If you are selected in the lottery, you may then email us at [email protected] and we will happily change your name for you.

So, in other words and ultimately: No - you don’t need to keep the same team name at the time of registration, but we highly encourage your team name to remain the same through the registration process and change it after the lottery.  

Lottery entries are earned in the following ways:

One (1) entry for each year your team has participated in CLR

One (1) additional entry for any team not accepted for CLR2019 and participated in CLR24 in 2019

One (1) entry to the lottery will be subtracted for any team that did not check-in at the cell phone waiting area during the previous year’s race

Yes! You can change your division, team name, or switch team captains at any time before the race. Email [email protected] with your current information and what you would like to switch. To have the correct information on your team bibs, changes must be made no later than June 18th.

  1. Inaugural (2008) team captains and their teams
  2. Any registered 2020 team captains and their teams
  3. Division winners (1st place only) from the previous year
  4. Top three overall finishers for CLR36, CLR24 and CLR Walk Relay
  5. YouTube contest winners (1st, 2nd, and 3rd place)

Register as normal.  If your team has guaranteed entry, you still need to register during the established registration period to secure your spot.

No - only the team captain needs to register your team and their information.  All teammates MUST be registered prior to May 1st in order to guarantee your T-shirt size is available on race day, otherwise any teammates registered after May 1st will receive the next closest size (IF we run out of that size).    

Our small team is working behind the scenes to ensure our 2021 events provide an exceptional opportunity for us to gather again safely doing what we do best - challenging our minds and bodies while building strong supportive relationships, experiencing a beautiful scenic course together, while helping our local community.  We need all of this again and more in 2021! 


We will do everything in our power to provide an in-person event in 2021 for our teams.  If we are unable to hold Cascade Lakes Relay as advertised, we are working on alternative plans that will provide teams with a valuable experience. These alternative plans include but are not limited to: a modified or shortened course, changing to a trail relay format, or an enhanced virtual platform. 

Your team registration fee is non-refundable once accepted and confirmed. 

Cascade Relays has reduced expenses and staff levels to survive this pandemic.  The uncertainty of next summer and large gatherings is extremely challenging to the entire events industry. We are optimistic of the future and our staff is working hard to ensure we are prepared to provide you with an amazing event experience.

We are working with our partners and permitting agencies as well as Oregon Health Authority to identify and implement measures to reduce risk for participants, volunteers, our team and communities. With attention to density reduction, touchpoint minimization, enhanced hygiene, screening and education, as well as self-awareness, we will continue to deliver our teams a high quality event with necessary precautions and adjustments so you can participate safely.  More information on our safety precautions will be provided as we continue to learn and adapt.
