Over the past 14 years, our past participants know we’ve always listened to feedback, suggestions and concerns and made adjustments to improve.  I have heard from many of you this past week and listened to your concerns and how this has impacted your team.  I have had personal phone conversations with over 30 team captains and I’ll continue to connect with more of you in the coming weeks.  I missed the mark, and disappointed and confused many of you with our initial communication.  We’ve also heard from many of you with messages of support and the importance of this event for your teammates and our community.  We will continue to improve and we’re thankful for your patience and understanding, and for the passion that surrounds this event.  


Here’s an update on how we are moving forward.  


This week we formed a Participant Advisory Council to help guide our decision making process, evaluate the financial challenges in detail, view results of our team captain survey, and provide input on our deferral/credit policy.  This Advisory Council consists of seven team captains who range from 2-13 years as a team captain.  We are working diligently to ensure a fair and balanced approach in creating a shared vision for the future on how we survive this together.  We know you’re eager to hear from us, but we need the time necessary to get this right.


With the guidance of the Participant Advisory Council, we will be finalizing the following next week:

  • Deferral/credit policy
  • Vision for a virtual event for those teams that choose to participate
  • Comprehensive FAQs


In the meantime, we want to clarify one thing in regards to your team’s HAV donation, if you opted to request nonprofit volunteers.  Teams may request their Hire a Volunteer donation to the Cascade Relays Foundation be refunded in full or 100% of your Hire-A-Volunteer (HAV) payment will be transferred to your future event registration.  Please fill out this form to request a full refund of your donation, providing your team name and mailing address, and we will process your refund immediately.    


We are committed to making this right and appreciate your patience as we work diligently to clarify our plan and deferral policy.
